Orange County Association of REALTORS®
Community Partnership Grant Request and
Sponsorship of Homebuyer Education Program
The Orange County Association of REALTORS® sponsored a homebuyer education program to help first-time homebuyers finance down payments and closing costs. In addition to this financial support, the OCAR funded monthly fair housing seminars to educate new homebuyers about the advantages of owning a home.

Bay East Association of REALTORS®
Non-profit homebuyer education program
The Bay East Association of REALTORS® established the Tri-Valley Housing Opportunity Center (TVHOC) to provide increased homeownership opportunities for households of all income levels. TVHOC offers classes funded and taught by professional REALTORS® aimed to educate, assist, and prepare prospective homebuyers for ownership of a home in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Sacramento Association of REALTORS®
Production of DVD displaying HELP Program
The Sacramento Association of REALTORS® used the money they received from the SLI fund to produce a video that promoted it's member-funded Homebuyers Equity Leveraging Program (HELP). HELP increases the housing opportunities of middle income and first time homebuyers by awarding them loans of up to $10,000 for purchasing a home.

Colorado

Colorado Association of REALTORS®
Keys to Homeownership Festival
The Keys to Homeownership Festival was sponsored by the Colorado Association of REALTORS® to give first-time homebuyers and underserved populations a chance to learn about the benefits of homeownership in a fun and supportive environment. The festival was attended by hundreds of participants who took advantage of learning sessions entitled "Understanding Credit," "Your Rights Under Fair Housing Laws," and "Choosing a REALTOR®".

Fort Collins Association of REALTORS®
Sensible Housing Summit
Over 200 REALTORS® attended the Fort Collins Association of REALTORS® (FCAR) "Sensible Housing Summit" in June of 2006. The summit, which was funded in part by a SLI grant, helped the FCAR provide a new perspective on affordable housing and launch their website, nchomeprograms.com. The website offers information regarding homeownership assistance programs in Northern Colorado.

Florida

REALTORS® Association of St. Lucie
Action plan for affordable housing for county and city governments
The REALTORS® Association of St. Lucie has organized a one day affordable housing summit designed to tackle the growing problem of affordable housing in St. Lucie, specifically among the growing population of teachers hired by St. Lucie County School District in 2006. The summit, which takes place on October 20th, will consist of several different panel discussions designed to create innovative solutions to the growing housing opportunity problem in St. Lucie.

Maryland

Maryland Association of REALTORS®
Web-based resource guide and certification course
The Maryland Association of REALTORS® (MAR) received a SLI grant to implement a web-based model designed to assist consumers in all Maryland jurisdictions by helping them find financing opportunities for home ownership. MAR coupled this web search based model of financing with an Affordable Housing Finance training program for REALTORS® to further assist prospective homebuyers with various financing options.

Minnesota

Southern Twin Cities Association of REALTORS®
Homeownership Fair involving several local Realtor associations
The Southern Twin Cities Association of REALTORS® sponsored a home ownership fair on June 10th, 2006 with the $4,000 SLI grant that they received in April. The goal of the fair was to decrease the 33% gap between white and minority home ownership in Minnesota. The fair offered homebuyers the opportunity to make contact with real estate companies, lenders, and nonprofit, community, or government organizations that offer assistance programs for first time homebuyers.

Mississippi

Mississippi Association of REALTORS®
Creation of a “Guide to Housing Opportunity Resources and Products"
The Mississippi Association of REALTORS® published a brochure providing a comprehensive list of resources available to help REALTORS® and homebuyers find affordable, quality housing in Mississippi. The REALTOR® Guide to Housing Opportunity Resources and Products was created for use by real estate professionals, lenders, builders, government officials, social service providers, and any others who are involved in helping Mississippians achieve the American Dream of homeownership.

North Carolina

Winston-Salem Association of REALTORS®
American Dream Weekend
The Winston-Salem Association of REALTORS® used their $3,000 SLI grant to market and advertise their American Dream Weekend, an event that was established in 2004 to give deserving prospective homebuyers the chance to fulfill the American Dream and own a home. The weekend, which took place on September 16th and 17th, 2006, consisted of an Affordable Housing Expo and Picnic as well as around forty open houses that qualify as affordable housing and special programs.

South Carolina

South Carolina Association of REALTORS®
License plate to raise money for construction of affordable housing
The South Carolina Association of REALTORS® (SCAR) produced and mailed 19,047 brochures that promote the sale of "American Dream-Homeownership" license plates. SCAR partnered with the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles to establish this license plate program that raises $90 for each license plate sold. SCAR uses the proceeds of this program to help construct affordable housing for South Carolina families.

South Dakota

Huron Board of REALTORS®
Advertising for homeownership campaign
The Huron Board of REALTORS® created 500 homebuyer guides that raised awareness for homebuyer education, advertised open houses, and educated buyers and sellers about affordable housing. They advertised these guides by purchasing ads in local print media.

Virginia

Richmond Association of REALTORS®
Public opinion survey of affordable housing
The Richmond Association of REALTORS® (RAR) created a public opinion survey regarding affordable housing prospects in the Richmond metropolitan area. For the survey, RAR targeted specific homeowners in areas of greater density, rapidly escalating home prices, increased cash proffers/impact fees, and exclusionary land use policies. RAR plans to use the results of this survey to test the typical stereotypes associated with affordable housing, specifically that higher density creates more crime or that it lowers property values.

Washington

Snohomish County Camano Association of REALTORS®
Keeping the Dream Alive – education of city and county officials
The Snohomish County Camano Association of REALTORS® held a housing symposium entitled "Keeping the Dream Alive". The symposium targeted REALTORS® and local elected officials to better educate them about the positive impact that quality density and newer kinds of affordable housing can have on communities in Washington.
