"Of all the mediation training I have attended over the ten years I have been mediating, the NAR program was as good as I have ever seen" "By far the best [training] I have participated in in my thirty years in the business" "Finest training in my twenty-six years in real estate" "Superb, first class; hands-on experience invaluable" "So impressed with the training and materials" "Encouraged creativity and 'out-of-the-box' thinking" "The full day of coaching is extraordinary" |
The Mediator/Mediation training seminar of the National Association will be held in Chicago on December 9, 10, and 11. The National Association has sponsored and conducted this seminar at least once a year since 2000 and the program has been overwhelmingly well received by all who attend.
Instructors/Program Description
The seminar will be led by Northwestern University Law School’s Lynn Cohn, Duke University Law School’s René Stemple Ellis, and NAR Educator of the Year Bruce Aydt.
It is an intensive, two and a half day learning experience designed to enhance and refine existing mediation skills. The seminars features a full day of three-person mediation simulations guided by individual mediation coaches. The instructional and comprehensive support materials enable participants to serve as mediators for their state and local associations and to share the techniques, skills, and expertise they gain with others. These training efforts coupled with the willingness of those who attend will enable the REALTOR® organization to effectively embrace and provide mediation as a valuable additional dispute resolution tool.
Attendee Profiles, Registration, and Fees
To help match the seminar’s content, format, and approach to the experience and needs of each participant, a detailed attendee profile form (below; titled "attendee profile .pdf") must be returned with each registration. A seminar registration form is also provided below (titled "register.pdf). Both forms must be completed and returned to NAR’s Member Policy Department, attention: Bernice Barajas. Mailing and fax instructions are provided on the registration form. Registration is open only to state associations until February 28, 2009 to send one representative. After February 28 registration is open to all on a first come, first serve basis. The registration fee is $150 and is nonrefundable after November 13 -- though an alternate attendee can be substituted at no cost.
