Daily Real Estate News  |  March 15, 2004  |   Bankers Optimistic on Commercial Outlook A majority of the country's commercial property bankers continue to regard commercial real estate as a viable asset class and are actively looking to lend on it, a Bridger Commercial Funding survey suggests. This marks the first time in two years that a majority of respondents polled have expressed interest in increasing their real-estate exposure. Some say this is further evidence that the market has seen its lowest point and is now on the rebound. In fact, a majority of respondents foresee moderate performance in each of the five major property types--retail, office, industrial, multifamily, and hospitality. In another bullish sign for the overall market, loan demand is on track to be moderate to strong in 2004 for all purposes, whether construction and development or acquisition and value-added lending. Bridger reports that its Survey of Lenders' Commercial Real Estate Perspectives will continue to be conducted on a semi-annual basis. It queried representatives of 75 different financial institutions from around the country.
