Why Isn't Your Web Site More Popular?
Real estate professionals who have successfully used search engine optimization to ensure their Web sites are ranked high on Google, Yahoo, MSN, and other sites often find they are not drawing as much business as they expected.
Experts say their sites might be targeting the neighborhood where they want to work, rather than the geographic area where 85 percent or more of their business is centered. Their sites also might be targeting too large of an area when prospective clients are seeking a local agent, or their home pages might not make it obvious that visitors are in the right place by welcoming them to the site.
Experts encourage agents to request that visitors to their Web sites input information in order to receive neighborhood reports or town guides, rather than mandating that they provide personal information in exchange for the ability to view listings.
Moreover, agents should ensure that they immediately respond to Web inquiries and eliminate numerous links and other clutter from their sites.
