Long & Foster Exec Moves Closer to FHA Job
David H. Stevens, president of the Washington, D.C., real estate firm Long & Foster is a step closer to being head of the Federal Housing Administration.
The Senate Banking Committee confirmed him last week. The full Senate still must approve him.
If Stevens is ultimately approved, he will be the only FHA commissioner in the last few decades to have a strong background in single-family home mortgages.
His appointment hit a snag earlier this year when questions were raised about lawsuits against Long & Foster. Stevens has been president there since October 2008.
