Daily Real Estate News  |  June 23, 2011  |   '90s Pop Icon Offers Up Real Estate Tips
From rapper to real estate expert, Vanilla Ice--the popular rapper from the ‘90s--has turned his attention from music to real estate. Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Rob Van Winkle, says he used the money he earned from his ‘90s breakout hit “Ice, Ice Baby” to make money in real estate, and now he wants to teach others how they can make big money in real estate too and become “real estate rock stars.”

"When ‘Ice, Ice Baby' was selling a million records a day, I bought several properties; a home next to Michael J. Fox in LA, a palace in Miami, and mountain cabin in Utah,” says Van Winkle. "Then, a few years later, I took a break from touring, saw that my properties had cobwebs, so I sold them, and to my surprise, I made a huge profit.”

The rapper recently launched a web site, VanillaIceRealEstate.com, to share his real estate investment strategies. He says he created the web site after all of the attention he’s gotten from his reality TV show on the DIY Network, “The Vanilla Ice Project,” in which his company renovates homes in the southern Florida area. Van Winkle says he’s been “slammed with requests to show others how to be successful with real estate investing.”

Van Winkle touts in his Web site that during his 15 years of real estate investing, “I’ve watched the markets go up and down and throughout it all, my skills have been sharpened and I’m doing better now than ever before. ... Now’s the perfect time to become a real estate rock star.”
