Steve Brown, Vice President and Liaison to Committees

Steve Brown, a REALTOR® from Dayton, Ohio, is the 2009 Vice President and Liaison to Government Affairs for the National Association of REALTORS®. NAR, “The Voice for Real Estate®,” is America’s largest trade association, representing 1.2 million REALTORS® involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.

Brown, a REALTOR® for more than 30 years, is co-owner of Irongate Inc. Realtors, a full service real estate firm with six offices and 400 agents that include relocation and property management divisions as well as in-house mortgage, title, and insurance partners.

A selling broker, Steve has received the "Pinnacle of Performance" sales award from the Ohio Association of Realtors every year since its inception in 2002.

Brown has held NAR leadership positions since 2005. He served as the Public Policy National Liaison in 2008 as well as a liaison for several committees: Business Issues, Conventional Finance and Lending, Federal Housing Policy, and Federal Taxation. In 2007, he chaired the Legislative Forum, and in 2005, he was the regional vice president for Region VI, serving Ohio and Michigan.

On the state and local levels, Brown served as president of the Ohio Association of Realtors® in 2002 and as President of the Dayton Area Board of Realtors in 1996. The DABR selected him as "Broker of the Year" in 1998.

For the past five years he has served as a member of the Ohio Division of Real Estate's Education and Research Advisory Committee, of which he currently chairs.

Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Brown is a graduate of Indiana University's School of Public and Environmental Affairs and holds graduate degrees in theology and psychology. An active member of the Dayton community, Brown currently serves as Treasurer for “Rhythm and Shoes,” a Dayton-based American song and dance company.
