FIRST EVER HOME BUYERS AND HOME SELLERS GUIDES CREATED BY THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
Chicago (October 17, 2006) – The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR) is pleased to announce the recent release of its first-ever official guides on home buying and home selling. These consumer-focused publications – THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®Guide to Home Buying and THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®Guide to Home Selling – combine the collective data and knowledge from NAR leaders with the street-smart guidance from industry expert, Blanche Evans.
The NAR Guide to Home Buying outlines the process of buying a home with a special focus on the first-time home buyer, while The NAR Guide to Home Selling presents the issues owners should consider when selling their home. Each guide focuses on the unique, and important, role REALTORS® play in the transaction and directs them to where they can find a REALTOR® in their area. Both guides feature useful checklists and guidelines to assist consumers with understanding the key points for the major steps of the buying and selling processes.
“It was essential for NAR to create these publications for its members and ultimately for consumers. The multitude of real estate publications that exist may exclude valuable resources, information and details that are available to help consumers in the real estate transaction. But it also brings to the table the great value a REALTOR® offers during the entire process – expertise that will help the client save time and money,” said Blanche Evans, co-author and editor of Realty Times.
These publications are also great resources for REALTORS® and can be used as a distinctive marketing or client relationship building tool. “These publications are full of real information and advice on how to take the mystery and stress out of the real estate transaction while working as a team with your REALTOR®,” said Tom Stevens, 2006 President of NAR. “Real estate professionals will find these books an excellent refresher into the overwhelming information a consumer must absorb and will help them more effectively do their job with their clients.”
Sold under the REALTOR Benefitssm Publications brand, NAR partnered with national publisher John Wiley & Sons to produce these guides and distribute them to consumers through channels outside of the organization.
“Our partnership with Wiley extends the NAR brand directly to consumers through Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com among other outlets, broadening the REALTOR® presence in the marketplace,” said Bob Goldberg, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Business Development at NAR. “Not only will this help to boost our members’ presence and their key role as a consumer’s advocate, sales of these publications will help keep NAR’s membership dues low.”
The NAR Guide to Home Buying and The NAR Guide to Home Selling are available for purchase at www.REALTOR.org/Store, by calling NAR’s order department at 1-800-874-6500 (select option 1) or through major retail and online booksellers.
NAR’s REALTOR Benefitssm Program offers members practical solutions for their business and personal lives on the publications, products and services that they use every day. The program includes offerings from more than 30 companies recognized as leaders in their respective industries and more than 100 publications and products designed to educate real estate professionals and their clients on topics ranging from legal issues and risk management to business development and marketing. In addition, use of the REALTOR Benefitssm Program results in revenue to NAR which helps keep NAR membership dues low.
