Government Advocacy
To combat challenges facing real estate markets, the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® is utilizing its long-standing relationships with members of Congress to help stabilize the industry in 2009.
What You Can Do
NAR’s staff maintains daily contact with Congressional and regulatory agencies to keep REALTOR® issues a top priority in D.C., but to continue pushing things in the right direction, we need your help. To do so, you can:
• Invest in RPAC: The REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC), through voluntary contributions, supports candidates for elected office who share REALTORS®’ public policy priorities.
• Respond to Calls for Action: The REALTOR® Action Center is a state-of-the-art grassroots contact system that helps hold elected officials accountable.
• Familiarize yourself with the FHA: NAR’s new Federal Housing Administration Toolkit is an interactive piece designed to teach REALTORS® how FHA’s mortgage insurance programs help families buy homes by lowering some costs of their mortgage loans.
Working To Make A Difference Now
NAR works closely with Congress to benefit REALTORS®, the real estate industry and consumers. Here are some of the issues that NAR is currently involved with on Capitol Hill:
• Mortgage Interest Deduction
• Financial Services and Mortgage Market Reform
• The Future of Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae
• Rebuilding the Mortgage Markets
• Small Business Health Coverage
• Energy Efficiency
• Property insurance in disaster-prone areas
