Design Guidelines for Advertising Media

Advertisements in Publications and Periodicals If art is prepared for use of full-bleed pages, designs should follow the same standards as Design Guidelines, Print: Brochures, Magazines, Newsletters, and Other Collateral Material. However, in publications in which restrict ad placement to non-bleed live area formats, or where a full page is not used, the following rules apply:

A. NAR
Signature
Logo Usage
The REALTOR® LOGO should not be used alone in advertisements; the NAR SIGNATURE LOGO must appear.

B. Bar Color If the reversed solid bar containing the NAR SIGNATURE LOGO is distracting or aesthetically undesirable, it may be made the same color as the background of the advertisement.

C. Bar Variance If this option is used, an area equal to 10% of the overall height of the live area of the ad space must be allocated to the NAR SIGNATURE LOGO. A one point rule should be placed above the logos to define the 10% area of the bar.

D. Bar Conformity All other rules and standards must be applied, e.g., mimimum sizes and AREA OF ISOLATION for the NAR SIGNATURE LOGO.

E. Bar Contents The front must always contain the REALTOR® LOGO or the NAR SIGNATURE LOGO and is to be positioned on the left side of the bar with space around all sides equal to the AREA OF ISOLATION. The "Real Strength. Real Advantages." tagline (see F. Bar Tagline below), must be positioned on the right side following the same rules as the REALTOR® LOGO and the NAR SIGNATURE LOGO. No other logos or text can be placed within the bar.

F. Bar Tagline The NAR tagline is "Real Strength. Real Advantages." The front side or cover page must always contain the REALTOR® LOGO or the NAR SIGNATURE LOGO and the NAR tagline, and is to be positioned on the left side of the bar with space around all sides equal to the AREA OF ISOLATION. No other logos or text can be placed within the bar.The tagline is in Myriad Light font and is positioned on the right side of the bar no less than 2.5 picas or 3/8" from the right edge of the page. Align top of caps to top of block R. Size of the tagline copy should remain large enough to be in balance with the NAR logo on the left. Suggested minimum is 10 point type.

In observance of NAR’s Centennial celebration in 2008, the NAR Centennial Logo is to be included with the NAR Signature Logo on the front side or cover page of printed pieces. The Centennial Logo replaces the current use of the “Real Strength, Real Advantages” tagline as the preferred treatment during the celebration period to distinguish the centennial year.

For the period of the celebration the bar is to be white space no less than 1 1/8” high and contain the NAR Signature Logo positioned on the left side of the bar and the Centennial Logo positioned on the right side. The top of the white space bar can be defined by a .5 black, ruled line bleeding the paper’s left and right edge and positioned 1 1/8” or more from bottom of the page. Or the top of the white space bar can be defined by a background color, or an image with a consistently solid area at the bottom, and stopping at least 1 1/8” from the bottom of the page.

The color of the NAR Signature Logo may be either Black or Blue, with the Centennial Logo in either 4-color, Black or Blue.

The logos should be positioned 1/2” from the left and right page edges. The top of the Centennial Logo’s type should be 1/8” below the .5 black, ruled line (or the background color). The top of the block R should align with the top of the Centennial Logo’s rectangle shape.
