June 24, 2008: NAR Rose Bowl Parade Float
In this edition of the NAR President’s Podcast, 2008 NAR President Dick Gaylord gives preview of NAR’s plan to debut a float in the 2009 Rose Bowl Parade.
One of America’s greatest New Year’s Day traditions, the Rose Bowl Parade is seen by one out of every four U.S. households, and in more than 150 international territories. This year, there will only be 46 floats, so there will be a high standard for creativity.
The theme for NAR’s float is the Swiss Family Robinson, which is a story about family who pulls together after a shipwreck to build a unique home. Their home becomes strength and solace. NAR’s float will use this concept to highlight the value of homeownership and how important the home is to families today.

June 10, 2008: National Homeownership Month
In this edition of the NAR President’s Podcast, 2008 NAR President Dick Gaylord explains why the current national homeownership rate should be a wake-up call to everyone in the housing industry. He urges all REALTORS® to take time during Homeownership Month this June to explore ways they can help raise the homeownership rate in every city and town.
Dick highlights three great programs that can help REALTORS® achieve that goal – even in a tough market. NAR’s Home from Work program trains REALTORS® to work with employers to create new programs. The Ambassadors for Cities program brings REALTORS® and Mayors together to recognize cities and programs that are helping to increase housing opportunities. Finally, the HOPE Awards recognize individuals and organizations that are doing outstanding work to increase minority homeownership.
