March 2008 President's Podcasts
March 25, 2008: Promote Fair Housing in Your Community
In this edition of the NAR President’s Podcast, 2008 NAR President Dick Gaylord highlights three ways that all REALTORS® can help celebrate Fair Housing Month and the 40th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act this April by promoting homeownership opportunities in their communities.
First, Dick encourages REALTORS® to reach out to more potential homeowners and explain that homeownership is more than just a good long-term financial investment. NAR’s “At Home with Diversity” program is a good place to start, and we have a special promotion for individuals who take the course in April.
Second, Dick asks REALTORS® to continue to advocate for laws and policies that make homeownership more affordable and accessible. To answer our latest Call for Action on FHA Reform, visit the REALTOR® Action Center now.
Third, Dick encourages everyone who listens to his podcast to support the HOPE Awards, which NAR sponsors in partnership with five minority real estate organizations. For more information, and to apply for an award, which includes a $10,000 grant, visit the HOPE Awards web site or contact Sara Weis at 202-383-1013 or sweis@realtors.org.
March 11, 2008: New Loan Limits Are Out!
In this edition of the NAR President’s Podcast, 2008 NAR President Dick Gaylord reports that HUD has announced the new FHA loan limits, and they are higher than expected. To find the new limit for your area, visit www.fhaoutreach.com, and click on your state on the map. For additional information on how you can implement the new FHA and GSE loan limits, visit http://www.realtor.org/fha.
Dick also updates REALTORS® on NAR’s efforts to raise the conforming loan limits permanently through GSE Reform legislation. And, he says NAR is working hard to elect lawmakers who support our issues. In fact, we’ve already raised $100,000 for Monty Newman, a REALTOR® from New Mexico, who is running for Congress.
Now, we need you to get involved in RPAC and Grassroots. Visit the REALTOR® Action Center today to find out how you can help.
