Work Group Purpose

To identify standards of excellence best practices that REALTOR® associations may aspire to as they strive to reach beyond the Core Standards.

Meeting Activity

The AEC Raise the Bar work group met via web conference in early October to review three program proposals on how local associations might “raise the bar” beyond Core Standards. The three proposals included an Idea Sharing Platform that would enhance communication and document sharing among associations, a Game Changer-inspired model in which local associations (according to size) would be recognized for exceptional achievement for a particular program or product, and a Certificate of Excellence program in which local associations would apply to be recognized for outstanding accomplishments in five performance categories, according to association size.

The group agreed to move forward with the Idea Sharing proposal by updating the existing RARE (REALTOR® Association Resource Exchange) database and to therefore choose between the remaining two proposals. The majority of the work group voted that the “Certificate of Excellence” program be put before the AEC for consideration. The AEC will be asked to recommend that staff be asked to prepare a budget for review and approval by the NAR Finance Committee in March 2017. At the May 2017 Legislative Meetings the AEC will be asked to support the proposal and accompanying budget and forward a recommendation to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Next Meeting

The work group has completed its objective and will not meet in November during the 2016 REALTORS® Conference & Expo.
