2008 AE INSTITUTE
March 29 - April 2, 2008
Boston, MA

The goal of the 2008 AE Institute is to ensure that you leave Boston better educated and informed about REALTOR® association management than when you arrived. While all classes are open to all attendees, we hope you’ll follow the overall track descriptions for the four main areas and plot your curriculum accordingly. Care was given to the programming to target it to years of experience. Your career will receive the biggest bang for its buck if you follow the courses in the track that most closely matches your years of experience in REALTOR® association management.

AE INSTITUTE PROGRAMMING TRACKS

BACK TO THE BASICS
Here’s where to go for the “A to Z” on REALTOR® association management. New on the job? Don’t worry. This track has anticipated your needs to ensure that you leave Boston with a broad foundation on REALTOR® association management issues that will carry you through your early years with success and ease. This track will teach you about policy manuals–an important and often overlooked component in REALTOR® association management, the basics of financial management, how to work with your volunteer leaders, NAR policy compliance and legal issues, and strategic planning–something new AEs don’t think they have the time to do, yet can help their associations thrive in the years ahead.

BEYOND THE BASICS
You’ve been at your job for maybe two to five years, and have a comfortable grasp on your multi-faceted role. Now it’s time to look beyond what you know and take some subjects to the next level. These programs will address issues such as human resources management, developing leaders on a limited budget, and the latest industry trends that are likely to impact your members. You’ll also have an opportunity to brush up on your communication skills, since the longer you’re at the association, the more opportunities you have to address the media. These classes will ratchet up your skills and take you from “beginner” to “advanced” AE.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT
You’ve been at your association for five to ten years (maybe more). Now what? What should you do differently? What shouldn’t you do at all? What’s new in the industry that your members need to know? Get re-energized and ready to learn things you didn’t think you could, in these classes designed to re-ignite the spark in REALTOR® association management, so you can light a fire under your members. You’ll learn about diversity on a level that will put your association on top of diversity issues. You’ll also discover how to make your association a strong presence in the community, and a place where others turn to for leadership. And you’ll see how to put personal agendas aside and polish your relationships for the good of your association and your members’ business.

THE NEXT 100 YEARS
You are witness to NAR’s first centennial in 2008, and can reflect on the progress that organized real estate has made over the past 100 years. Be part of the next centennial as you examine the issues facing the future of organized real estate. The key to the success of the next 100 years rests with technology and innovation. Get a first-hand look at the solutions that will impact the real estate industry for decades to come, as you explore future technology and innovation trends.

In addition to humor and entertainment, Miles offers a practical approach to dealing with issues of change and stress. He brings a fresh perspective to life’s challenges, both great and small.
