Appraisal: Who We Are

NAR MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® is one of the world's largest professional associations and"The Voice for Real Estate®". Founded in 1908, the National Association of REALTORS® is a professional and trade organization whose purposes are to enhance the ability and opportunity of its members to conduct their business successfully and ethically; and to promote the free enterprise system by preserving the right to own, transfer, and use real property. Through research and the exchange of information among members, the public and the government, NAR works to ensure that laws are passed that are favorable to real estate, property owners, and real estate practitioners. Over 720,000 real estate practitioners, representing all aspects of the industry, are members of NAR. Approximately 31,000 of NAR members are appraisers. Members may belong to one or more of 1,700 local associations or boards and 54 state and territory associations of REALTORS®.

Working for America's property owners, NAR provides a facility for professional development, research and the exchange of information among members, the public and the government for the purpose of preserving the free enterprise system and the right to own real property. Membership in a local association automatically extends your membership to the state association and national association. Our members are the voice for NAR -- it is your association and it exists to help you increase your business opportunities.

If you're not a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, but you'd like to become one so you can access One Realtor Place.comSM - our private member intranet site - and take advantage of all the other BENEFITS of NAR Membership , you must first join your local real estate board. To find out where the local board in your area is located, check the Yellow Pages, or send us an e-mail with your name, address, company name, phone and fax numbers to narappraisalsource@realtors.org.
