FamilyFun.com
Want to spice up your repertoire of family activities? At this site, run by entertainment giant Walt Disney Corp., there’s no shortage of ideas about fun ways to spend time with the ones you love. The site focuses on getting the whole family—especially the kids—involved with activities like cooking, decorating, and planning travel. You also will find guides for throwing kids’ parties, celebrating holidays, and making crafts. Of course, there is an emphasis on Disney events and products, most noticeably in the “Travel” section, but for most kids, that’s not a bad thing. Here’s are highlights of the site’s offerings:
- My Great Idea. Here’s where site visitors share their great ideas about what to do on Your Family Nights, Your Favorite Place to Camp, and what makes the best Quick Dinners. You also can learn practical Morning Rush-Hour Time Savers that have worked for other families, and find Fun Ways to Stay Fit & Healthy as a family. You can submit your own great ideas for any of the listed topics.
- Parties. Whether it’s a child’s birthday party, a relaxing Father’s Day, or just a summer afternoon in the backyard, you can make the event a memorable one by getting the whole family involved. In the Birthdays section, browse a list of creative themes, like a Ladybug Party or a Battle of the Bands. Each theme includes details on decorations, games, food, favors, and more. Under Holiday & Seasons, you can read about seasonal activities that will bring a festive mood into your home.
- Organize & Decorate. Getting your kids to clean up after themselves won’t be such a chore when you put these ideas to work. Browse the No More Clutter section to learn how to make fun Storage Boxes, a Toy Chest, and dozens of other projects that you can work on with your kids. You also can find Kids’ Room Ideas that will get your child excited about bed time, and read about Backyard Play Projects. The projects usually require some light carpentry work, so get your toolbox ready.
- Parenting. Camping trips, parties, and building playhouses are never quite as fun when your children are being difficult. Never fear, parenting advice is here. The Field Guide to Parenting will help you tackle a range of issues, from Dawdling to Responsibility and Separation Anxiety. This section also has areas devoted to your child’s Learning, ways to raise healthy Children, the basics on caring for Babies, and how to have a healthy pregnancy when you’re Expecting.
