CNN/Money.com’s Real Estate Section

If you take pride in knowing the latest national real estate news and trends, this is a Web site you’ll want to bookmark. A joint venture of CNN and Money magazine, the site’s home page is rich with market statistics, real estate-related news stories, and tools such as calculators and mortgage rate finders that make great resources for buyers and sellers. Information is well-organized overall, although there are some good features that are only found by exploring. But we’ll make it easy for you by bringing you directly to the best parts of this site:

  • Best Places to Live. Curious if your locale made this annual list? Find out by browsing these extensive lists and articles that rank different areas on a variety of livability factors. Or you can search some of the other “Best Places” lists, such as Best Places to Live on the Coast, which is filled with great tips to consider when looking for a coastal home. And if you’re nearing retirement or know someone who is, check out the Best Places to Retire page, a collection of articles, how-to guides, and search tools that will help narrow down the perfect spot.
  • Home Improvement. In this section of the site, you can access news and information specific to sprucing up a home. Get tips to pass along to clients who have their eye on a fixer-upper or to use on your own project. Learn how to Avoid These Rookie Renovation Mistakes, such as underestimating the cost or failing to plan for the chaos of a rehab. Read up on Simple Kitchen Makeovers. Or browse the Home Improvement Archive for other articles that pique your interest. You also can play around with the Renovation Wizard calculator, which estimates the average cost and return on investment for different projects using data from Remodeling magazine.
  • Million $ Life. Even if you or your clients can’t afford to shell out $1 million or more for a fancy abode, you’re allowed to dream. At this page you can browse articles on high-end real estate markets. For example, find out What You Get for a Million Bucks in different markets around the nation. Or, view a table of the Top 75 Luxury Markets, as ranked by Coldwell Banker’s total sales volume for luxury homes. And if you really want to drool over the most lavish of homes, check out a slideshow featuring the Real Estate of the Rich and Famous.
