Anti-Patent Troll Bill Passes House by Huge Margin

On Dec. 5, 2013 the U.S. House passed the H.R. 3309 “Innovation Act” aimed at curbing abuses in the patent litigation system.  The bill is ntended to discourage frivolous patent lawsuits brought by patent holders with hopes of large settlements.

REALTORS®  have increasingly been the target of licensing demands from patent trolls for use of common business technologies like scanner-copiers and website search alert functions.

NAR supported the Innovation Act and will continue to work to see that similar legislation is passed in the Senate.
