You spend members’ dues dollars wisely: ample programs and services, reasonable staff salaryand benefits, prudent investments, and well-researched purchases. Yet, when it comes to sharing financial statements and budgets with the membership, AEs have differing views.
At one end of the spectrum are AEs who don’t hesitate when asked about sharing financials, as some have told RAE:
AEs agree, one of the best things you can do for your association and your career is to create professional relationships with other Realtor® association executives.
I admit I’m not too politically correct on the whole “green” issue. In fact, when I first heard about associations going “green,” I thought it meant I should take a trip to Ireland. But then I discovered that it had to do with being environmentally friendly.
Recruiting a diverse array of members and leaders is a task filled with potential pitfalls that can frustrate your good intentions. But the end result is well worth the effort. After all, diversity in leadership not only builds credibility in a diverse community, but also enables the association to better understand and meet the needs of its diverse membership. So how can associations successfully recruit with an eye toward diversity?

he headlines have been ferocious. The national, regional, and local media have sunk their teeth into the real estate industry like insatiable beasts in a predator versus prey documentary on the National Geographic Channel. So do we “fight or flight”?
Although running and hiding is an effective course of action with some predators, it only incites the media. A “no comment” response not only implies you have something to coverup but also silences your voice in the conversation with consumers.
