REALTOR® AE Recognition Program
The REALTOR® AE Recognition Program is a consolidated effort by the Association Executives Committee (AEC) and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® to honor excellence in the REALTOR® association management profession. Following is a brief summary of each award. Please see the detailed descriptions in the attached links for further explanation.
1. The William R. Magel Award of Excellence is the highest honor bestowed by the AEC. All association executives of state and local associations, who otherwise meet the stringent eligibility requirements described below, are eligible for nomination. One honoree is selected annually. This award recognizes those involved in current, exceptional service to the REALTOR® association, and who have already created a legacy for others to emulate, even as they continue their careers.
2. The Dr. Almon R. (Bud) Smith, RCE, AE Leadership Society recognizes those association executives (AEs), regardless of the length of their tenure, who have shown themselves to be leading contributors to the industry and the profession. Multiple honorees are selected annually. Much like a fellows program, members will play an active, ongoing role as innovators and mentors for the AE community. All eligible AEs, both chief staff executives and staff specialists, may be nominated for this award.
3. The Terry McDermott Community Leadership Award annually honors an association executive who has gone the extra mile to get involved in programs and activities that benefit the community in which he/she lives and works. Recipients of this award display leadership, initiative, creativity, and dedication. Through their involvement, they inspire others to get involved and make a difference in the lives of others.
