May 2009
Report
Work Group Objective
Identify and coordinate a balanced mix of program offerings for volunteer and staff leadership teams to be scheduled at the Midyear Leadership Express program, the November Entrepreneurial Excellence Series, and the Leading Edge in Association Management program.
Background
The AEC Leadership Programming Work Group is responsible for planning the following sessions for REALTOR® association volunteer and staff leadership teams: Leadership Express program (90 minute session - May) and Leading Edge in Association Management program (two hour program during Annual meetings). These two sessions, along with the Leadership Summit, provide opportunities at NAR meetings for staff and volunteer leaders to forge stronger partnerships, plan for their leadership year as a team, hear updates on NAR issues and initiatives, connect with NAR leadership, and network with other leadership teams.
Work Group Activity
The work group held the Leadership Express program on Friday, May 15, during the Midyear Meetings. The programming consisted of three 40-minute sessions, scheduled concurrently and then repeated, allowing attendees the opportunity to attend two of the following three workshops. The speaker evaluations received excellent scores ranging from 3.8 to 4.9 out of 5.0. Below is a summary of the Leadership Express programs.

The work group identified a program and speaker for the November 12, 2009 Leading Edge in Association Management program. John Clemens, Founder, The Hartwick Leadership Institute, New York, will present "Overcoming Resistance to Change?”
Sue Goldman volunteered to facilitate the AE roundtables and Larry Johnson’s president, Art Royaland, volunteered to facilitate the president roundtables. Both programs are scheduled on Sunday, November 15, San Diego.
