Opening Session
8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
The Opening Session is the official kick-off to the 2010 AE Institute. Come and meet the 2010 AEI team, and leave exhilarated by a challenging keynote address. Imagine if you jumped in your car, fresh out of college, and set off on a cross-country adventure. Along the way you stopped to have coffee with the most extraordinary, accomplished people in the world and they freely shared with you the secrets of their own success. This all happened for you because you had the courage to do the unthinkable: you humbly asked smarter people for advice. It would have changed your life. That’s exactly what happened to Eric Saperston. The further he traveled, the more people he met, the smaller the world became, until everyone was connected to everyone else. He is a strong believer in the power of the individual to make a difference and is unwilling to let anyone accept anything less than an extraordinary life. You’ll also hear from 2010 NAR President Vicki Cox Golder, and 2010 CREA President Georges Pahud, who’ll both offer some special remarks.

Amber MacArthur is a young, bright and deeply credentialed Web consultant – a leading voice of the social media generation. Amber Mac – as she’s known to her legion of fans – is also a pioneering and wildly popular web journalist who interviews the Web’s users, content producers and entrepreneurs. In podcasts and on television (she has worked for the CBC, CityTV and G4TechTV), she traces the profound impact of emerging technologies on the way we live, work and play – and she makes it all fun, informative and accessible. The 2010 AE Institute Advisory Board is pleased to have Bill Strickland present this special address. For more than 30 years, Strickland has transformed thousands of lives, restored our faith in ethical leadership, and reshaped the business of social change. As president and CEO of the Manchester Bidwell Corporation – an extraordinary jobs training center and community arts program – he and his staff work with corporations, community leaders, and schools to give disadvantaged kids and adults the opportunities they need to build a better future. (Centers are already running in Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and San Francisco; many more are planned.) And for years now, in front of enraptured audiences, this MacArthur Genius has shared his unshakable message of leadership, self-worth and the intrinsic ability in all of us to achieve remarkable transformation in our lives. “Bill Strickland is a genius,” says former e-Bay president Jeff Skoll, "because he sees the inherent genius in everyone."
