REALTOR® Leadership Program (RLP)

The REALTOR® Leadership Program (RLP) is designed to produce quality REALTOR® leaders that are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead local and state associations.

RLP, which is open to all REALTORS®, focuses on key leadership skills and association management topics, including strategic planning, risk management, building relationships with volunteers, conflict resolution, and more.

The program consists of an optional-but-encouraged online course as well as two, three-hour, interactive, live-presentation courses that are held at local and state associations as well as NAR national meetings.

NAR has partnered with the Ontario Real Estate Association to offer a customized version of OREA’s leadership program. A cadre of U.S. association leadership professionals has been specifically trained to facilitate these courses.

What sets RLP apart from other Leadership programs?

The RLP prepares REALTORS® for association volunteerism and focuses on key leadership skills and association management topics that are necessary for effective leadership. State and local association leadership programs teach REALTORS® the skills that will help them succeed as association and community leaders. NAR’s Leadership Academy identifies and grooms a small group of emerging leaders from local and state associations for potential leadership roles at NAR. Qualified applicants are selected through an application process. The RLP and state and local association leadership programs may be considered stepping stones to NAR’s Leadership Academy.

The REALTORS® Excelling in Association Leadership (REAL) Self-Study Course, a six-module course that is available at no cost, covers many of the same topics that are covered in the RLP. However, the REAL Course is self-paced, while the RLP is an interactive learning experience.
