RCE Process

 RCE Process

The process is a very simple one -- here are the steps.

  • Initiate the certification process by completing an  online Applicant Data Form (ADF). The ADF allows you to document your professional development activities, achievement, and educational background. You will earn points based on involvement in different areas. The online ADF allows candidates to keep an ongoing record of their professional development activities, and to electronically submit the ADF to become an RCE candidate.  The online ADF will estimate and keep track of your total points to see if you will earn the minimum points required.  In order to take the examination, you must accumulate a minimum of 350 points on the ADF.  The maximum number of points that will be counted from those you earn on the ADF is 475.  Complete your online ADF today!
  • A non-refundable $325 application fee is due upon submittal of the ADF. This fee covers the ADF and examination costs. Your ADF is then scored. You must accumulate a minimum of 350 points on the ADF to go on to the next step, the RCE examination. Once you receive the required number of points on your ADF, you have two years from the date your ADF was submitted to take the examination.
  • Register to take the examination.  RCE candidates must be pre-registered in order to take the exam.  Each of the multiple-choice questions covers one of the following major topic areas: Manage the Association and Its Business Operations, Understand the Structure of the REALTOR Organization , Foster Effective Interpersonal Relationships, Understand Real Estate Industry Issues and Trends, and Acquire and Communicate Valuable Information. The examination questions are referenced to National Association publications. Your examination is then scored - in this process your NRDS ID is maintained to ensure confidentiality. Your examination and ADF scores are combined to determine whether you have earned sufficient total points for the designation.
  • If your combined ADF and examination scores total atleast the minimum 700 points required to earn the designation you will be recognized at the AE Institute and both National meetings in front of your AE peers and volunteer leadership. You will also receive a plaque, an RCE pin in recognition of your accomplishment, and a sample news release to distribute to your local news media.
