NAR International

International Business Development Tool for REALTOR® Brokerages

The economic realities of today’s market demand that brokerages seek business development opportunities from sources not previously identified or pursed, such as International. Increasing in-bound/out-bound investment and shifting patterns in U.S. migration and immigration represent ample business opportunities in most local markets. Is your firm maximizing its international business opportunities?

NAR International can help you identify and take full advantage of the resources available and help you build a customized business development plan for your firm based on a menu of international products and services tailored to your agents’ specific needs. Areas of focus include Research, News/Information, Education, Risk Reduction, Agent Credentialing, Property Exposure, Business Networks, and more.

Why Should I Do This?
Why not? Unless your firm’s business is more robust that you can currently manage and you expect it to remain so long-term, you stand only to gain by having a better understanding of your firm’s capability/potential to grow its global business.

Where Do I Begin?
NAR International is available to provide information on its program, products and services, most of which you’ll find detailed in our Global Business Guide. However, without understanding your firm’s unique opportunities, it may be hard to know what resources will result in the best return on your investment.

When it comes to the global market there’s seldom a “one size fits all” approach—the firm size, location, ethnic make-up of the community, etc.,—all contribute to your firm’s international business potential. Therefore, to maximize the value to individual brokerages, NAR has created an international brokerage self-assessment tool which will 1) Assist you conducting an “international audit” of your firm, and 2) Identify NAR programs, products and services that will provide the most value to your firm related to international business development.

How Does it Work?
Upon completion of this brokerage self-assessment survey, you will receive a customized report based specifically on your firm’s international profile. The report will identify specific resources that may benefit your firm. Convenient links to accessing more detailed information will be provided.

What’s the Cost?
There’s no cost for the brokerage self-assessment or the custom report. Should you opt to pursue specific products and services, associated costs apply, although many of NAR’s resources are free.

I’m Ready to Grow My Firm’s International Business. What’s Next?
The link below will take you to NAR’s International Business Development Brokerage Self-Assessment online survey. The survey includes four sections with between 5 to 12 questions per section. It should take less than 20 min. to complete. You may stop at any point and return at a later time to complete it. Just make a note of your password in order to re-access the survey.

Depending on the level of knowledge the individual completing the survey has about individual agents, you may want to conduct a quick in-firm survey of your agents before beginning the self-assessment. Information collected from agents will allow you to more easily complete the self-assessment.

The attached sample Agent Survey includes questions specifically designed to help you complete the brokerage Self-Assessment. Feel free to add your own questions. If you are surveying a large number of agents, consider setting this up in one of the try-it-for-free online survey tools, such as Survey Monkey.
