CIPS Membership Status:
Designee vs. Candidate vs. Student


Student: A student is an individual that has taken one or more of the CIPS courses. A student is not authorized to use the CIPS designation, initials or logo.

Candidate: A candidate is a dues paying member of the CIPS Network and a REALTOR® who is taking courses and/or in the process of pursuing the CIPS designation. A candidate is not authorized to use the CIPS designation, initials or logo.

Designee: A Designee is a REALTOR® who has earned the CIPS designation after notification from the National Association of REALTORS®, International Operations Department that his/her CIPS designation application has been approved and all dues and fees have been paid. A CIPS Designee is authorized to use the CIPS designation, initials and logo.

*The CIPS designation is a federally protected trademark and any unauthorized use becomes a Trademark Infringement and a violation of the National Association of REALTORS® code of ethics Article 12
