Marida Alfaro, president of the El Salvador Chamber of Real Estate, establishes an alliance with the American organization "NAR" with the goal of increasing international real estate business and transactions.

Between May 13-17 Mrs. Marida Alfaro travelled here to our capital to be with over 7,000 experts in real estate who attended an international workshop organzied by the National Association of REALTORS. Many of the themes talked about in the meetign directly affect the Latin community in our metropolitan area, and certainly in El Salvador as well as Central America, in that there is a growing interest of both communities in realizing the dream of buying in investing in real estate in their home countries.

"In this conference they spoke about affordable housing programs as well as other important themes related to our industry, but the real emphasis for me is the alliance between NAR and CSBR that has the goal of growing international real estate transactions between our countries", said Marida Alfaro.

"The direct benefits that we hope to give Salvadorans living in the Washington area is to give them mechanisms so Salvadorans can invest in real estate when they send money (remittances) back home to their families. These institutions give transparency and security when dealing in transnational real estate", she added.

To acquire housing or invest in El Salvador not only do you need plenty of options which already exist in the market, but the buyer also needs to deal with people who are knowledgeable, ethical and can give more confidence and security in transactions. It is that reason why Mrs. Alfaro states that "we need alliances with groups, including REALTORS in the United States as well as institutions like PROESA, the El Salvador Bank, and developers and builders in El Salvador."

The President of NAR, Cathy Whatley, has approved the CSBR association as the NAR-equivalent "Voice for Real Estate" in El Salvador, the only real entity that represents real estate in the country. Mrs. Alfaro explains the reasons why.

"We, as members of the Chamber, offer all of the El Salvador residents in Washington as well as all US citizens that we act as an ethical transparent portal of information about purchasing property in our country. Our members are ethical, knowledgeable and fully understand aspects of property transactions in our country", explained Alfaro. "It is the interest of the CSBR to form alliances with the El Salvador community in the United States", indicated Alfaro who is also part of the Executive Committee of FECEPAC, a regional organization including Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic. This Federation is also seeking to be a catalyst for real estate business on a region-wide level.
