Education highlights:
The ABR designation course was offered with about 20 students from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Panama, Peru, and the U.S. The Brazil Summit attendees are the first non-USA practitioners to receive the designation and were awarded the pin during the NAR annual convention in New Orleans. Business Development highlights:
Nearly 70 non-Brazilian attendees were present at the second Brazil Summit from twelve different countries and 12 different U.S. states. Months later, attendees have reported that they have been able to develop tangible cross-border business as well as excellent professional relationships as well as lasting friendships. To develop business with an attendee, see the attached Word document with attendees biographies.
Non-USA attendees included mostly Latin American countries including Argentina, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Israel, Panama, Paraguay, and Peru. High-level attendees included developers, political figures, and most importantly, CIPS members!

Successful property marketing sessions were also held during the Summit, focusing on unique tangible business opportunities, including: properties in El Salvador targeted towards Salvador immigrants in the U.S., residential/commercial urban development in Paraguay, touristic developments in Peru, Argentina, and USA (2nd home market), and the former U.S.-controlled Panama Canal Zone properties. Property marketing session included multimedia material and was broadcast to a World Trade Council meeting in Florida with over 100 attendees.
Real Estate Association Development highlights
The Brazil Summit drew in attendance from over 2/3 (nine out of twelve) bilateral partners in the Latin America region and participated in roundtable sessions organized in conjunction with the International Real Property Foundation focusing on creation of MLS systems as well as framing key challenges in Latin America organized real estate. Attendees included association leadership and staff from leading associations in the region, as well as key input and participation from NAR's respective volunteer presidents liaisons. In the roundtable association leaders determined that strengthening associations should be accomplished via government relations in the areas of statistical research and lobbying. In response to the needs determined by Brazil Summit attendees, a Lobbying and Research Workshop will be held in conjunction with NAR's Midyear Meetings in May 2003. Read about highlights from the roundtable sessions.
