Global Perspectives in Real Estate is a 16-page, four-color glossy newsletter. published four times a year by the CIPS Network of the National Association of REALTORS®. It has a total circulation of approximately 2,800, including 2,500 CIPS members, of whom 2,000 have earned the CIPS Designation. The remaining readership is made up of NAR bilateral Cooperating Associations, US Ambassador Associations, International Councils of local REALTOR® Association, NAR leadership, and a group of targeted US and foreign embassies, consulates and international organizations around the globe.

What types of stories does Global Perspectives publish?
The newsletter includes global statistics, in-depth analysis on international real estate markets, news and data on global, economic, and political trends. Also included are highlights from international education and networking events.

Each issue of the newsletters leads with a feature story, balanced between U.S. and offshore subjects. Generally, we are interested in timely articles that illuminate a hot topic of interest to our worldwide readership. It should contain practical information about financial, legal, monetary, investment, market-related, or industry news that can help our readers be more successful in their businesses.

Our most successful contributions share certain characteristics, notably a strong sense of the author’s personality, good subject knowledge, and a highly readable quality. Our features avoid both the folksy anecdote and the pedantic dissertation, but rather speak directly to the international practitioner in the voice of a colleague and friend.

We also publish several regular service-oriented departments, with the emphasis on meaty, practical information. Winning Strategies features stories of real experience written by real practitioners, stories to which all CIPS members can relate. Network Briefs is made up of news and items of interest to members. Resource sidebars include facts about useful sources of information and tools for members.

What kinds of ideas is Global Perspectives seeking?
We welcome input from members for features and for most of our departments. Ideas for features are generated both by the Global Perspectives staff, volunteer leadership and by member contributors.

How should an idea be proposed?
If you have an idea for a feature article, email Carol Weinrich. Read the latest issues of Global Perspectives to understand the types of stories and writing styles that appeal to our international audience. Past issues are available in PDF format.

How long are Global Perspectives feature stories and departments?
Most Global Perspectives features are from 1,500 to 2,000 words, depending on the subject. Departments generally run from 500 to 750 words. Items and Resources run 100 to 200 words.

What does Global Perspectives look for in writing style?
There are no limitations on style, as long as the writing is lively and interesting, although a world vision should be at the heart of every Global Perspectives story. We seek that viewpoint in every story we publish. Generally, we like the second person, speaking directly to the reader, as in “you will see…”
