REALTORS® and Habitat for Humanity Building the American Dream

REALTORS® are committed to addressing the need for affordable housing in communities across U.S. and around the world. This year, we continued the tradition of helping one family in the Conference city area realize the American Dream through our partnership with Habitat for Humanity. $10 of your registration fee went towards the sponsorship of a home in Oakland, California and internationally, in Chile. About the Habitat for Humanity Home Sponsored by NAR NAR sponsored a home in West Oakland at the Palm Court site of the Acorn Housing Complex, just across the Bay Bridge from San Francisco. The East Bay Habitat for Humanity is building 12 homes at this site. Beverly Loyo is the homeowner partner of the the NAR sponsored home. Beverly, 55, is a computer technician and is providing permanent housing for her two-year-old granddaughter, Shakara, and Shakara's mother, Sharleen. Beverly will not only help construct her new home, she will also earn "sweat equity" by volunteering at the Acorn Computer Learning Center. As with all Habitat programs, Beverly will purchase her home and apay a low, no-interest mortgage. Dedication Ceremony Wednesday, October 26 With the help of REALTORS® from the Alameda, Bay East, Berkeley, Contra Costa, Oakland and West Contra Costa REALTOR® associations, Beverly's home was completed over the summer. The home was dedicated and the keys presented to Beverly on Wednesday, October 26. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO HELP REBUILD NEW ORLEANS: Nearly 80 Habitat homes in New Orleans were destroyed in the Hurricane's aftermath. Your donations at the Habitat for Humanity Booth #3401 in San Francisco will help the New Orleans Habitat for Humanity and the homeowners rebuild their homes. Thank you for your support!
