Only certified instructors can teach the At Home With Diversity® (AHWD) course. In addition to teaching the course, instructors administer continuing education exam, and may also perform other tasks, such as distributing and collecting course forms, license agreements, and eligibility affidavits.
Requirements for becoming an AHWD instructor:
- Hold the AHWD certification.
- Audit an AHWD course: have your board hold a course, or audit a scheduled course.
- Complete an Instructor Training Course, sponsored by REBAC, and either the AHWD-specific Instructor Recertification or the AHWD Train-the-Trainer course every two years. Training for these two requirements is offered every year at NAR’s Mid-Year Legislative Meetings and REALTORS® Conference and Expo, and in other locations throughout the year. Instructors will be notified when these courses are scheduled. You must complete both types of training every two years in order to keep your instructor status active.
- Read and agree to the AHWD Instructor Eligibility and Approval Guidelines by reading the guidelines and then signing and dating the AHWD Instructor Eligibility Acknowledgment form.
Submit your application form, signed eligibility acknowledgment, resume, three references, and a letter of “intent to hire” from a board or AHWD sponsor who intends to hire you as an AHWD instructor. There is a one-time application fee of $150. Please submit the application, eligibility acknowledgment, resume, and letter of intent to hire, along with the application fee, to:
