In July 2007, NAR submitted a series of RESPA questions to HUD’s general counsel looking for guidance. NAR's questions addressed issues such as compensating REALTORS^(R) as loan officers, employment agreements between agents and lenders and the definition of “thing of value” in certain circumstances.  After 13 months, HUD has responded to NAR's inquiry.
