Purpose

Will address requests or proposals for NAR to participate as amicus curiae, or “friend of the court,” in litigation of concern or interest to the real estate industry. The Advisory Board will determine whether NAR should participate, the nature of that participation, and the financial commitment to be applied. 

Composition

7 members including a Chair, Vice Chair and 5 members of the Legal Action Committee. The members of the subcommittee would be appointed by the President. The Chair of the Legal Action Committee would offer suggestions for such appointments, for consideration by the President.

Term of service

One-year terms. Because there may be some benefit to members serving on the advisory board for more than one year, it would be appropriate to permit reappointment to the committee for several consecutive one year terms.

Qualification(s) for consideration

Only current members of the Legal Action Committee should be eligible for service.
