Equal Opportunity Cultural Diversity Forum Highlights

The most recent forum, Power Plays: Diversity in the Political Game opened with keynote speaker, Congressman William Lacy Clay, Jr. (D-MO) discussing the value of cultural diversity in political initiatives. It quickly evolved into a state of the economy and housing from the point of view as a member of the powerful House Financial Services Committee. The strong message he conveyed was that congress needs to make decisions that will bring liquidity back to the middle class. He emphasized that REALTORS have do a role to play. “We all, especially people of color, must get involved; that includes building a relationship with your members of congress and then get involved once you get back to your hometowns.” Congressman Clay even mentioned that he would be happy to be the chief sponsor of some legislation with the REALTORS. Many of his FPC’s followed up with him during their hill visits.

In addition to the keynote speaker, the forum featured three speakers from local real estate associations who have successfully utilized diversity initiatives to achieve political goals.
