April is Fair Housing Month

April 2012 marks the 44th anniversary of the 1968 landmark Fair Housing Act. Each year REALTORS® recognize the significance of this event and reconfirm our commitment to upholding fair housing law as well as our commitment to offering equal professional service to all in their search for real property

Recognizing Fair Housing Month

The 2012 Fair Housing Focus and Poster will be posted by the end of February 2012. The links to the 2011 Fair Housing Focus are still available until the new edition is posted.

Things you and your REALTOR® association can do to recognize Fair Housing Month:

The 2011 edition of the Fair Housing FOCUS publication features a theme of E Pluribus Unum: Out of Many One, as well as information on the Community and Political Affairs Training opportunities like Expanding Housing Opportunities; the Employer Assisted Housing Class; Leading With Diversity; and the soon-to-be-available Smart Growth for the 21st Century course. As always, the At Home With Diversity course is still available to offer during Fair Housing Month and throughout the year. In addition, The FOCUS also features NAR grants, fair housing DVDs, as well as products like the Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives Program and other ideas you can implement at your association or office to recognize Fair Housing Month. In addition to being posted online (above), it is sent to all state and local associations in March. Watch your mailboxes or contact us if you would like to receive a copy of your own.
