FHA Loan Limits

On Nov. 17, 2011, the U.S. Congress passed a provision that reinstated the FHA loan limits through 2013 at 125 percent of local area medium home prices up to a maximum of $729,750 in the highest cost markets. The floor remained at $271,050. The loan limits for Fannie and Freddie-backed mortgages remained at 115 percent of the local area medium home prices up to $625,500.

Home Affordable Modification Program (FHA-HAMP)

On March 25, 2010, the Obama Administration, including Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Commissioner David H. Stevens, announced changes to the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) and enhancements to the FHA's refinance program.
