Property Casualty Insurance - Consulting Services Now Available
NAR recognizes that the regulation of the property insurance industry is a state issue. To support REALTORS® and their state associations as they respond to existing problems with affordability and availability of property casualty insurance coverages, NAR is making available the services of one of the nation’s leading insurance law firms to state REALTOR® associations . The firm will provide state associations with expert analysis of the legal, political, and industry issues surrounding state property casualty legislative or regulatory insurance proposals. Requests for analysis by state associations should be submitted to NAR for prescreening.
Examples of possible proposals that could be submitted for review include: limitations on the use of specific factors for underwriting purposes such as credit, insurance scoring or prior claims histories, creation of state FAIR plans, expansion of state FAIR plan offerings beyond traditional fire policies, rate deregulation proposals, criteria governing cancellation or non-renewal of insurance policies, etc.
