Housing Opportunity Program Grant

Housing Opportunity Program Grant

Application Information

There will be two funding cycles in 2011. Deadlines are April 1 and October 7. The 2011 application will be available in mid-January.

To be considered, programs should support the Housing Opportunity Program Grant's mission of positioning REALTORS® as leaders in creating housing opportunities.

Housing Opportunity Program Grants support the efforts of state and local REALTOR® associations who are
implementing housing opportunity programs and activities. These activities position REALTORS® as leaders
in improving their communities by creating affordable housing opportunities.

Grant Regulations:

• Associations cannot submit an application for an activity previously funded by a Housing Opportunity Program Grant.
• Grants cannot be used to fund an activity completed prior to the selection process, which typically occurs one month after the application due date.
• Applications must be signed by the Executive Officer of the association requesting funding (unsigned or improperly signed applications will not be considered).
• Applications from individual REALTORS® are not eligible for consideration.
• Funds that are not used within one year of receipt must be returned to NAR.
• Grant recipients must complete a post-grant self evaluation within 90 days of the completion of the activity for which funding was received.
• Failure to compete the self evaluation will cause the association to be ineligible to apply a future Housing Opportunity Program Grant.

The Review Committee will look for:

• Activities with significant REALTOR® member participation.
• Activities which are new for the association rather than funding an ongoing or existing activity.
• A substantial enhancement to an existing or repeating activity.
• Activities that are partially funded by the association applying for assistance.
• Activities that expand housing opportunities using an innovative approach.
