HOP Awards Grants

Thirteen state and local associations were recently awarded a total of $39,500, from the Housing Opportunity Fund. The Fund provides supports a wide range of housing opportunity programs with grants of up to $5,000. To be considered, programs should support the mission of the NAR Housing Opportunity Program of positioning REALTORS® as leaders in creating housing opportunities. Grants are awarded twice a year to state and local associations (individual REALTORS® are not eligible to apply). The next funding cycle will be October 2008. Winning programs from the most recent cycle include the creation of a financial education classes for potential home buyers, a regional home ownership summit, an affordable housing certification for REALTORS®, and more. Employer-Assisted Housing Conference
October 6, 2008, Chicago, IL

This one-day conference is designed to educate and raise awareness of Employer-Assisted Housing (EAH). The conference will provide case studies, models of successful EAH program and a forum for REALTORS®, housing organizations, employers, and human resources and employee benefits professionals to connect, discuss EAH programs and find opportunities to work together. Home From Work™ Train the Trainer
NAR will host Train The Trainer classes in Home From Work™ November 9, 2008 in Orlando, FL. If you are interested in becoming a Certified Trainer for the Home From Work™, complete an application. As a certified trainer you can train fellow members on how to use the Home From Work™ program and will be listed as a trainer on Realtor.org. Sponsor a Home From Work™ Class
Rising housing costs create problems for people who can't afford to live close to their jobs. The Home From Work™ program encourages REALTORS® to become advocates for expanding housing opportunities. Specifically, the program teaches REALTORS® how to effectively promote workforce housing initiatives at the grassroots level and to work with public and private-sector employers to establish an employer assisted housing (EAH) benefit. Your association or office can sponsor a training class. To become a sponsor, complete a sponsorship agreement and a sponsor request form and return to Rodney Tucker.
