The Housing Opportunity Program Speakers Series covers a variety of housing opportunity topics of interest to Realtors® and Realtor® association staff. The Speakers Series consists of one-hour, web-based presentations.
The Speakers Series provides an avenue for the Housing Opportunity Program and its strategic partners to share important information and resources on a regular basis.

Ask the Expert - A Conversation with Sara Pratt
Hear about common sense, hands-on tools to deal with public hearings, building community support, using the media, working with officials, and moving to legal action. Learn how to educate the broader community and municipal officials, build support for your vision and move ahead smoothly with your projects.
Sara Pratt is a leading expert in fair housing. In addition to her many years working in fair housing enforcement at HUD, she co-authored a fair housing toolkit for affordable housing developers and communities about how to combat community opposition to affordable housing. She speaks on fair housing issues nationally, including new initiatives on affirmatively furthering fair housing and discrimination in the sales and rental market.

Learn about strategies that Bank of America is using to help consumers buy homes they can keep, how REALTORS® can find programs to help their clients achieve homeownership and initiatives to help homeowners avoid foreclosure.
This seminar was presented by Kathy Cummings, SVP, Neighborhood Lending Consumer Education and Counseling Executive for Bank of America. Kathy joined Bank of America in November 2003. Her current responsibilities include working a network of 550+ nonprofit organizations delivering home buyer education and foreclosure prevention counseling services as well as integration with the Global Corporate Social Responsibility team within Bank of America serving the needs of their customer base.

Attract Buyers to Foreclosed Homes
The foreclosure crisis has left many neighborhoods and communities in a state of distress. Tom Streitz, Housing Policy and Development Director for the City of Minneapolis, shares his knowledge related to attracting buyers to distressed neighborhoods to buy foreclosed homes. His presentation includes a variety of ideas, including some that have been implemented in the Minneapolis Advantage program. Additionally, Craig Nickerson, President, National Community Stabilization Trust (NCST) discusses the work of his organization and the newly created partnership between NCST and NAR to support neighborhood reclamation efforts.
