Housing Opportunity Program

REALTOR® Housing Solutions

Criteria

REALTOR® Housing Solutions is a forum to display and share creative, unique model programs or initiatives created and implemented by REALTOR® Associations or firms that address affordable housing issues/concerns in their community.

For inclusion in the Realtor® Housing Solutions Database a submission must meet the following criteria:

  1. Program must relate to NAR’s Housing Opportunity Program mission— to position REALTORS® as leaders in identifying, developing, advocating for, and promoting business opportunities, programs, products and resources that help to expand housing availability and ensure an adequate supply of housing options for all in both the rental and homeownership sectors.
  2. Program must be an completed program that has been fully implemented at least once. Planned “future projects” will not qualify.
  3. Program must be creative and reflect some unique or innovative strategy to promote or increase housing opportunities.
  4. If program/event is a fundraiser, it must reflect a unique or innovative strategy to qualify. Submissions that simply indicate we gave X amount of dollars to XYZ organization will not qualify.
  5. Realtor involvement in the program activities and implementation must be clear and substantial.
  6. Program must have the potential to be replicated in other communities.

Some of the types of programs that would qualify for inclusion in the database include:

  • Homebuyer education programs
  • Financial literacy programs
  • Financial assistance programs (down payment assistance, rental assistance, etc.)
  • Workforce housing programs
  • Housing-related Information websites
  • Educational brochures and materials
  • Renovation and rehabilitation projects
  • Realtor education programs
  • Public awareness/media campaigns
