What is a Web Feed?

Web feeds are a format for sharing and distributing Web content, such as news headlines. Using a Web feed saves you time by delivering new content directly to you, without your having to visit a Web site or blog.

Subscribing to and Using Web Feeds

Web feeds are viewed with “feed readers” or “feed aggregators,” such as Google Reader, Newsgator, My AOL or My Yahoo. Some feed readers are applications that you must install on your computer; others are Web-based and can be accessed from any Internet-connected computer.

REALTOR.org uses a service called Feedburner to distribute Web feeds. Clicking on any of our Web feed links or icons (they look like this:  and can be found on the righthand side of many of our pages) will take you to a Feedburner page; there you can subscribe to the feed with the reader of your choice.

Once you get started, it's easy to get hooked on the convenience of having news come to you rather than having to go find it.
