American Dream Weekend
The City of Winston-Slaem received the Ambassadors designation because of the joint efforts of Mayor J. Allen Joines and the Winston-Salem Regional Association of Realtors in putting together a three-day "American Dream Weekend." The program's goal is to encourage Realtors to market lending programs offered by the municipal programs of the City of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County Housing Departments as well as those offered by private lenders, builders and community development corporations. The expo also featured a drawing for four $1000 downpayment assistance gifts and door prizes. As part of the event, Realtors conducted open houses Sunday at 50 homes that qualify for affordable housing loan programs.
