Frequently Asked Questions About
the 2008 Leadership Summit


Registration for the 2008 Leadership Summit is now closed


Who is invited?
2009 Presidents and Executive Officers of:
- Local and state associations
- Regional MLSs
- Commercial overlay boards
- Commercial structures with 100+ commercial members
- National institutes, societies, and councils

Can more people than the Association Executive and 2009 President attend?
Summit attendance is open only to Executive Officers and 2009 Presidents. No substitutions allowed.

Is there a registration fee?
There is no registration fee for invitees. If you are interested in participating, we encourage you to register early. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Once capacity has been reached, registration is closed.

What does NAR pay for?
For invited AEs and year 2009 Presidents (no substitutions), NAR will pay for up to two nights' hotel accommodations. Airfare, other transportation costs, additional night's hotel accommodations, and other expenses are paid by attendees.

Is there a cut-off date for registration and hotel reservations?
Registration is on a first come first serve basis, and fills quickly. Once capacity has been reached, registration is closed.

How do invitees register for the meeting?
Summit invitees register online. You will need your REALTOR.org user name and password, plus your NRDS ID number. If you don't know your NRDS ID number, contact NAR’s Info Central at 1-800-874-6500.

Can I register on-site?
No.

What do I need to know about making a hotel reservation?Attendees register for the meeting and make hotel reservations at the same time. Hotel rooms can be reserved only during the registration process. Please do not contact the hotels directly to reserve hotel accommodations.

How is payment for the hotel accommodations handled?
The room and tax charges (2 nights) for the Association Executive and 2009 President are billed to a NAR Master Account. Charges for additional nights are the responsibility of the attendee.

Will NAR pay for more than two nights if it means a lower airfare?
The maximum number of nights that NAR will pay for is two nights. Based on space availability, you may arrive early or stay over. Additional nights are at your own expense.

Summit hotels and group rates are:
Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers: $147 plus tax
Hotel Intercontinental: $199 plus tax
Conrad Chicago: $200 plus tax
Four Points Sheraton: $155 plus tax
Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile: $194 plus tax
Embassy Suites Chicago - Downtown/Lakefront: $199 plus tax

Will there be an optional leadership program the day prior to the Summit?
No. Some of the components from the former optional Volunteer Leadership Training Program will be incorporated into the Summit general session.

What is the weather like in Chicago in August?
August is the height of the summer in Chicago, although Lake Michigan and the Chicago River act as natural air conditioners for downtown. Average daytime temperatures are in the high 80s, evening temperatures are usually in the low 70s.

    NAR’s official carriers, United Airlines and Ted, can save you 5% off published fares for travel within the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, San Juan, Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico Beaches. Just fly United, United Express, Ted by United, code share flights operated by U•S AIRWAYS, U•S AIRWAYS Express, and Air Canada. Discounts vary based upon the class of service you purchase and not all flights qualify.




    Go Amtrak
    Amtrak offers a 10% discount off the lowest available rail fare to Chicago from August 17 thru August 25, 2008. Offer valid with Sleepers, Business Class or First Class seats with payment of the full applicable accommodation charges. Fare is valid on Amtrak Regional and Acela service for all departures seven days a week, except for holiday blackouts. Convention discounts cannot be booked via Internet.
