LARGEST LOCAL REALTOR®BOARD IN THE U.S. IS FIRST SENTRILOCK CUSTOMER TO DEPLOY SECURE ID FEATURE
CHICAGO (December 6, 2006) – With its more than 28,000 members making it the largest local REALTOR® Board in the United States, the Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR), will be the first SentriLock customer to leverage their investment in the REALTOR® Lockbox technology by also providing secure identification to all of its members.
SentriLock’s Secure ID technology takes advantage of the secure, convenient credit card sized SentriCard that also serves as the electronic “key” for the REALTOR® Lockbox. The system is based on globally accepted Smart Card security technology that makes it nearly impossible for someone to create a “fake ID”.
In addition to the Smart Card security chip, each SentriCard issued by the Long Island Board of REALTORS® will also contain a printed photo of the agent. These secure photo ID cards will allow for nearly real-time confirmation of an agent's MLS membership status. This will provide Broker offices with a fast, simple, and secure method of verifying an agent's identity and membership status prior to turning over keys or other sensitive documents. Joseph E. Mottola, LIBOR CEO, cited the value of the new system stating, "the Long Island Board was definitely influenced by the Security Photo ID capabilities of the system in addition to the ease and convenience of using the lockboxes." Scott Fisher, President of Sentrilock, LLC, is energetic about the advantages of the SentriCard® Secure ID, stating, “This product represents a significant advance in increasing homeowners’ security while decreasing Brokers’ liability.”
The SentriCard® smart card is an ISO 7816 compliant smart card. Unlike their credit card counterparts, smart cards utilize an embedded "chip" that contains the security data for the lockbox system. This chip is immune to magnetic fields and employs tamper detection logic and circuitry. These high security devices use 128 bit encryption technology, ensuring the cards cannot be copied or altered by unauthorized means.
