RCA Technology & Intelligence Briefing
Overview of Issue Four— Third Quarter 2006
The Technology & Intelligence Briefings are a resource for identifying and reporting trends in technology and innovative business practices related to commercial real estate. These reports feature interviews with innovative commercial professionals and industry experts.

 | Jeff DeBoer has served as President and CEO of The Real Estate Roundtable since 1997, and in various capacities has been at the forefront of every major piece of legislation affecting the real estate industry during the last twenty-five years, including significant tax initiatives, environmental policy matters and a focus to develop a long-term public-private partnership to ensure the widespread availability of terrorism risk insurance.
In addition to his position at the Roundtable, Jeff DeBoer serves as Chairman of the Real Estate Industry Information Sharing and Analysis Center (RE-ISAC). He also serves as co-chairman of the Advisory Board of the RAND Corporation’s Center for Terrorism Risk Management Policy and is chairman of the National Real Estate Organizations, a coalition of real estate trade associations working together to enhance the coordination of the industry’s overall Washington advocacy efforts. He is also a founding member of the steering committee of the Coalition to Insure Against Terrorism (CIAT).

 | If there were a “National Real Estate Finance Historian Emeritus,” Bowen H. “Buzz” McCoy would be it! He graduated from Stanford University with a degree in economics and received his M.B.A. at Harvard Business School.
As an owner of Morgan Stanley, Buzz directed Morgan Stanley’s real estate finance activities for 13 years and its West Coast activities for five years. Upon retirement from the firm, he embarked on a career as a real estate and business counselor, an educator and a philanthropist.
Buzz has published seventy-five magazine articles on the subjects of business ethics and real estate finance and is the author of the forthcoming Evolution of Real Estate Capital Markets: A Practitioner's Perspective due out from the Urban Land Institute.
He serves as a trustee for the Urban Land Institute and is a past president of the Urban Land Foundation. He is a past president of the Counselors of Real Estate and a fellow in the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. His civic and philanthropic activities are extensive and include service as past Chairman of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Red Cross, Chairman of the Hollywood Bowl and Chairman of the Medical Ethics Committee at UCLA Medical Center.
