Public Advocacy Campaign: Home Ownership Matters
There’s a reason home ownership is called the American Dream. People aspire to home ownership for the financial and social benefits it conveys. Our government supports home ownership because it’s good for communities and the nation’s economy.

In 2011, the Public Awareness Campaign continues to remind consumers that home ownership not only benefits families, it also helps build strong communities and creates jobs.

The newest campaign spot, "Housing First," explains the impact of home ownership on the nation's economy:

  • For every two homes sold, one job is created.
  • Each home purchased pumps up to $60,000 into the economy.
  • Home ownership accounts for over $2 trillion of the U.S. GDP.

"Housing First" is now running as part of the national media buy and includes TV and radio ads, with online and print ads to come.

The “Book Report” materials are also available for local and state associations to place in their own markets; those materials include TV, radio, print and online materials that underscore the value of home ownership in improving academic achievement, creating stability and strengthening families. To supplement the “Book Report” messages, the campaign has created a Field Guide to the Benefits of Home Ownership, available as a download on the Home Ownership Matters campaign pages.

Customize Materials
The online ad generator allows local and state associations to customize standard-size print and outdoor ads by adding information such as the association’s name, phone number, and Web site address. You will be able to preview your customized ad online. After you approve the preview, you can then generate a high-resolution PDF suitable for insertion into a publication. Due to large file sizes for bus shelters and billboards, you will be contacted to make arrangements for delivery of high-resolution artwork for these outdoor layouts after you submit your customizable information.

As established by the campaign guidelines, INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS CANNOT CUSTOMIZE PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN MATERIALS TO PLACE AS ADVERTISING.

Order Materials
If your publication needs print ads in sizes other than 11 X 17, 8.5 X 11, 10.75 X 8.25, 5.375 X 8.25, 5.375 X 4.125 or 4.25 X 5.5, you can request other customized sizes for a fee.
