The Leadership Academy is a seven-month, five-session training and development program that is structured around national meetings.
Attendance at all sessions is necessary to graduate. Participants who have an unexcused absence for more than a full day of one session will be dropped from the program and encouraged to reapply. Selection for subsequent year’s program cannot be guaranteed. Academy social events are for business networking, so please respect that invitations to Academy functions are intended for participants only, unless otherwise noted or approved.
Session 1: Best Practices and Lessons Learned
San Francisco, November 6, 2013: One full day before the start of the Annual meeting. Introductions and icebreaker activities. Session includes a panel of NAR leadership. Come to understand the NAR’s structure and scope and learn how things get done at the national level.
Session 2: REALTOR® Smith Goes to Washington
Washington D.C., January 2014: The Academy will have a half-day overview on how NAR builds relationships with member of Congress and Federal Regulatory agencies to influence policy makers and achieve success.
Session 3: NAR Governance Overview
Webinar, March 20, 2014: Presentation on the governing bodies and reporting structures of NAR featuring everything you’ve always wanted to know about committees, but were afraid to ask.
Session 4: Leading to Face Industry Challenges
Chicago, April 9–10, 2014: Two full days to learn how NAR leads the industry and the association. Academy participants will take part in workshops, meet key NAR staff, and learn of new NAR initiatives.
Session 5: Building a Culture through Ethical Leadership
Washington D.C., May 12, 2014: The final Academy session will focus on leadership ethics and integrity. The program concludes with graduation and a reception.
