AE Designations:

        
RCE (REALTOR® association Certified Executive) designation

A professional designation for REALTOR® association executives recognizing those who have attained a wide variety of skills through education and experience. The designation signifies accomplishment, initiative, and professional development and represents association executives with commitment to the organization. Visit the RCE home page.

RCE Deadlines: To become eligible to sit for the RCE exam you'll need to submit your ADF by July 1 or December 1. All designees must be recertified every four years in order to retain the designation.

        
The Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) for AEs
A day-long program providing in-depth education on developing and growing an international members services program is offered in conjunction with NAR meetings. Stay tuned for more info on the next class.

E-Pro for Associations

NAR and InternetCrusade® launched an e-PRO technology certification course for association executives and staff specialists, May 1, 2002. e-PRO for Associations will cover computer basics, NRDS operations, and association management skills.Successful completion earns you 20 points toward your RCE (REALTOR® association Certified Executive) designation.

        
AE & Leadership Ethics Course
Ethics for REALTOR® Association Staff and Volunteer Leaders, Not Always a Black and White Issue, is a new classroom-format course for AEs and elected leaders.
        
New Member Online Ethics Orientation Course
New Member Orientation on the Code of Ethics developed by the National Association of REALTORS®. This course meets all learning objectives and criteria for the New Member Code of Ethics Orientation Policy.
        
REALTOR® Association Management Self-Study Course

(FREE)

This self-study course is specifically designed to increase your awareness and understanding of pertinent REALTOR® association management and policy issues. It covers the "Administrative Level" of the AE Competencies and Body of Knowledge, covering all 28 topic areas in The Answer Book -- The Source for REALTOR® Association Management Leaders. This course is only available on-line. Students review or download the questions and submit their answers electronically; thus receiving instant results. Professional Standards Advanced Administrative Concepts Self-Study Course

This self-study course provides in-depth study of Professional Standards and goes beyond the information taught in the NAR professional standards administrator training. The study areas for this course include the Code of Ethics, Key Players Ethics Arbitration C+ases, the Appeal Process, and NAR’s Dispute Resolution System. Students have six months to complete the course. Successful course completion earns students 20 points toward the RCE (REALTOR® association Certified Executive) designation. Advanced REALTOR® Association Management Self-Study Course (item #E138-168; $125)

The University of Chicago Strategies in Nonprofit Management Certificate Program

AEs are invited to enroll in the full certificate program, which encompasses the challenges of a real classroom setting with personalized pre- and post-work assignments. By completing four core and two optional full day courses, participants will earn a Certificate in Strategies in Nonprofit Management from the University of Chicago Graham School.

Leadership Summit

The 2008 Leadership Summit in Chicago will be held Aug. 21 & 22. This annual meeting brings incoming local and state president/AE leadership teams together for a full day of issue updates and collective brainstorming, to unify the organization's message for the incoming year.


Volunteer Leadership Training Program

This interactive leadership program is designed for presidents-elect and chief staff association executives focusing on leadership roles and responsibilities, forging a strong partnership, setting goals and expectations, followed by a line-up of NAR speakers focusing on "must know" topics including human resources, media relations, and legal issues. This one-day program will be held just prior to the August Leadership Summit [August].


Leadership Express

A program presented in conjunction with NAR's Midyear Governance Meetings that provides leadership and industry issues information to help local and state president/EO leadership teams effectively fulfill their leadership role. The new format will consist of three 40-minute sessions scheduled concurrently and then repeated. Topics will focus on timely issues, initiatives, and practical “how to” information. Some of the sessions will target presidents and others will target presidents-elect. [May]


Leadership Conference

This conference for local and state president and executive officer leadership teams is held every year in conjunction with NAR's REALTORS® Conference and Expo. The November program will fall under NAR’s new Entrepreneurial Excellence Series (EES). AEs and presidents/presidents-elect will be exposed to higher-caliber keynote speakers who will present topics that can be applied to the leadership of their associations and/or real estate businesses.


Leading Edge in Association Management

A new program in 2005, scheduled during the November REALTORS® Conference, targets various segments of the AE constituency, including those who are new to the business, seasoned AEs, chief staff executives, staff specialists, and AEs with and without professional designations. The sessions will range from 90 minutes up to three hours. Program topics may also focus on the RCE body of knowledge, providing AEs with training/study sessions to help them prepare for the RCE exam.

AE Competencies and Body of Knowledge

This document identifies five competencies in which an association executive shall be proficient to successfully serve the evolving REALTOR® association through the 21st Century. Within each competency there are three levels of knowledge - Administrative; Management; Leadership. Each of the five competencies are attached to topics that lead to proficiency at the three defined levels.


        
REALTOR® Association Models Online Planning Tool

An online planning tool developed to help associations assess their current operations and to determine where they aspire to be in delivering member services value. There are a number of other uses for the planning tool, some of which include the following: to align leadership and staff expectations; to serve as a strategic planning or structural audit tool; to identify career planning and professional development goals.
