| August 30, 2008 Dear REALTOR® Association Executives:  NAR EVP/CEO Terry McDermott. Moving them into transitional and, eventually, permanent housing is now a critical priority. NAR is partnering with Habitat for Humanity International to build “REALTOR® Villages” comprised of core houses -- permanent structures that, in some cases, will be built on the foundation of the previous homes. We’ve set a goal to build 1,000 core houses in the hard-hit countries of India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and the Sumatra area of Indonesia. When it comes to putting families in homes, nobody does it better than America’s REALTORS®. Just as we met the challenge to help the victims of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, we’re confident that REALTORS® will respond to this crisis. Never before has the need for housing been so great. NAR pledged to raise $1 million for Habitat’s reconstruction program. We’re about halfway to our goal. Now we need our local boards, state associations, and MLS’s to join in the campaign. If you can raise $1,000, we can dedicate a house in your organization’s name. For $10,000 or more, we can dedicate a neighborhood. NAR will provide your organization a certificate for every house or neighborhood that you can sponsor. With your help we can raise the rest. EVERY PENNY raised by the REALTOR® Tsunami Relief Project will be donated to Habitat for Humanity International to construct the REALTOR® Villages. ALL of the administrative costs of conducting the REALTOR® Tsunami Relief Project are being absorbed by NAR. To contribute by mail, checks should be made payable to the REALTOR® Tsunami Relief Project and sent to: REALTOR® Tsunami Relief Project Attn: NAR Finance Division 430 N. Michigan Ave. Chicago IL 60611 Over time, Habitat will work to build permanent housing for thousands of families made homeless by the tsunami. Right now, however, the need for transitional housing is reaching crisis levels in many of the regions hit by the disaster. Please help us help those in real need. Time is running out.
